Submit Art!

Open Submission Period: EXTENDED to Dec 19, 2012

Thanks for joining Art Strike. To help you create art to get at the heart of what’s at stake with the fiscal cliff talks, here’s some directions to take.

Expose what’s at stake and what cuts really mean

What’s on the chopping block? School lunches, Head Start, Children’s Healthcare Insurance Program, WIC, food stamps, Community Development Block Grants, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

These are all vital services and programs that keep our country running, and form a social safety net that helps working families struggling in hard times.

Expose the tax breaks for the wealthy

The average TAX CUT for the richest Americans is actually MORE than the average household income of the other 99% of Americans. Expose the people holding the middle class hostage for these $100,000 tax cuts.

Name the real villains.

Both Republican and Democratic parties are guilty of hyping this fabricated crisis and ratcheting up the political fight with our livelihoods on the line. The US is the richest nation in the history of the world. It’s not that we’re out of money — there’s plenty of money, it’s just the system has been gamed to unfairly allow the money to be hoarded by a small group of Americans. This “fiscal cliff/bluff” can represent our line in the sand.
